What Happened?
04 May 1947: A party of British paratroopers from the 1st Parachute Bn., returning from a bathhouse in Acre, were fired upon by a party of Irgun-Lehi militants. This attack took place shortly after the Acre Prison raid. The soldiers returned fire, killing five of the attacking terrorists without any casualties.
Other documented attacks on this day include a failed truck hijacking, a bomb in a school playground, the explosion of a local bridge, and the ambush of British military personnel.
