Ramle-Aqir Road Failed Mine Attack – Apr 1947
Date: 21/04/1947
Location: Ramle
Perpetrators: Irgun
Victims: Failed attack
What Happened?
21 April 1947: A land mine exploded under a British military vehicle on the Ramleh-Aqir road in the morning, causing damage to the truck. Another land mine that had been planted on the same highway exploded three hours later, missing any civilian casualties.
This attack followed deadly raids, grenade attacks, and mine ambushes by the Irgun a few days earlier. This attack was also a response to the grenade-suicide of convicted Israeli terrorists (Moshe Barazani and Meir Feinstein) who were due to be hanged in the morning.
Other attacks on this day by Irgun include the Nebi Samuel Grenade attack.
