Kfar Bilu Failed Mine Attack – Apr 1947

Date: 19/04/1947

Location: Kfar Bilu

Perpetrators: Irgun

Victims: Failed attack

What Happened?

19 April 1947: A British military patrol found a landmine on the highway near Kfar Bilu, likely intended to ambush government targets. An electrically detonated mine had wounded five British soldiers only a few weeks earlier in Haifa.

Road mines like this one were the modus operandi of the Irgun Zvai Leumi, an Israeli militant group. This attack coincided with two other deadly attacks by Irgun on this day, the Netanya Leave Camp Raid and the Allenby Street Grenade Attack.
