Methodology
The One-Minute Massacres (OMM) project uses historical documentation, archival records, eyewitness accounts, and verifiable sources, combined with a framework of ethical testimony.
This ethical framework is in accordance with a fatwa issued ad hoc by Dar al-ʿUloom Usmania, Nauthia Road, Peshawar (دارالعلوم عثمانیہ، پشاور).
- Respondents provide informed consent and retain the right to withdraw at any stage.
- No personally identifiable information is published.
- Respondents are vetted by trusted community leaders to ensure authenticity and relevance.
- A minimum of three independent, corroborating testimonies are required for any incident to reach documentary status.
Verification and Limitations
- Testimonies are cross-checked against available media reports, NGO databases, leaked military logs, or contemporaneous records where such material exists.
- In regions where documentation is sparse due to censorship, remoteness, or conflict, oral testimony is treated as primary evidence, following established oral history practices.
- Casualty figures are reported conservatively; where estimates vary, ranges are noted or figures are marked as minimum confirmed.
- OMM acknowledges that under-reporting is likely in conflict zones and that absence of documentation does not imply absence of violence.
