Qutub Khel (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack IV – Mar 2011

Date: 13/03/2011

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 7 Killed, 5 Injured

What Happened?

13 March 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed both a house and car in the Ishr Morr area of Qutab Khel. Alternatively, some sources place this strike at the Spalaga area. This attack reportedly happened at around 1845 hours. Media reports allege that up to 7 ‘suspected militants’ were killed, including the TTP commander Rahimullah Khan.

Data published years later by FATA officials alleges that a ‘state car’ was destroyed, raising questions on potential state casualties. The contradictory reporting and lack of any independent inquiry has led to this attack being classified as undocumented.

While 3 moving cars had been destroyed in drone strikes in Qutab Khel before, this strike was the first time a local house was destroyed.
