Musakki (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack IV – Sep 2012

Date: 24/09/2012

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 5 Killed

What Happened?

24 September 2012: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a dispensary building in the Dawar Musakki area of Mirali Tehsil. The attack reportedly started at around 2150 hours and used at least four drones. Five people were reportedly killed.

A New York Times report alleged that an Al-Qaeda commander Abu Kasha was killed in this attack. However, Kasha’s attack had previously been alleged in an October 2008 drone attack in the nearby area of Issori, where U.S. drones had killed 20+ civilians. The Long War Journal was not able to obtain confirmation from U.S. intelligence on if whether Abu Kasha had perished in this attack.

The News reported local testimony that the victims had been charred beyond recognition, making any identification impossible.
