Nebi Samuel Grenade Attack – Apr 1947

Date: 21/04/1947

Location: Al-Quds (Jerusalem)

Perpetrators: Irgun

Victims: 3 wounded

What Happened?

21 April 1947: Two jeeps of the British military, each manned by two soldiers, were rocked by two hand grenades thrown at them by Irgun militants. The jeeps were careered off the road after being shot at, and struck an innocent municipal dustman, who was taken to a local hospital.

This attack followed deadly raids, grenade attacks, and mine ambushes by the Irgun a few days earlier. This attack was also a response to the grenade-suicide of convicted Israeli terrorists (Moshe Barazani and Meir Feinstein) who were due to be hanged in the morning.
