Sarona Camp Attack – Mar 1947

What Happened?

8 March 1947: Intensive attacks against the British were launched by the Irgun Zvai Leumi after 8 pm. A British Coldstream Guardsman was killed in this surprise attack, while an Arab constable was injured. Fifteen civilians were injured in the following shooting.

The British Government later confirmed that its soldiers had killed at least four of the attacking terrorists. Irgun had heavily mined the roads between Citrus House and Sarona Camp.

This attack was one of the three simultaneous major attacks by the Irgun on 8 March 1947. The others were the Citrus House bombing and the Jaffa Police H.Q. bombing.
