What Happened?

March 8, 1946: Militants belonging to Irgun Zvai Leumi launched a coordinated attack on various police and military elements in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. A mine ambush nearly killed the commanding officer of the Third Infantry Brigade (Brigadier Poole). Explosions were reported around the Sarona area by BBC Palestine, a report that was blatantly rejected by the Palestine Post a day later despite confirmations from the British Army.
