Ragha (Khyber Agency) Drone Strikes – May 2010

What Happened?

15 May 2010: A series of four US drone missiles struck the Ragha area (Landi Kotal tehsil) of the Khyber Agency in FATA. The first missile hit a supposed gathering of people at night.

The second and third missiles hit the supposed Hujra of Taliban commander Dost Muhammad. The fourth missile hit a moving vehicle, killing at least seven people.

Western intelligence claimed that the first strike had killed at least 15 militants, while the fourth had killed at least 7 militants. A local tribal source claimed that at least 2 of the dead were civilians; however, there is no on-ground confirmation.

No further official or local documentation of this strike is known to exist at the moment.

This drone strike marked the start of US-led drone attacks in the Khyber Agency.
