Baghar Cheena (S. Waziristan) Drone Attack – Apr 2011

Date: 13/04/2011

Location: Birmal, SWA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 7 Killed, 10 Injured

What Happened?

13 April 2011: At about 1235 hours, U.S. drone strike targeted a double-cabin truck and motorbike crossing from Afghanistan, killing seven alleged militants in the Baghar Cheena area of Tehsil Birmal. Also damaged in the attack was a house but details are unclear whether or not civilians or alleged militants were killed in the raid.

A local villager named Salim told unconfirmed sources that those killed were militants. An anonymous source told the New York Times that the target of the attack was Maulvi Nazir, a known Taliban commander fighting NATO forces in the area.

Given the contradictions and lack of any independent inquiry, this drone attack is considered undocumented.
