What Happened?

14 February 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted a house in the Narsi Khel – Manzakai area of Makin in South Waziristan Agency. Some 35 people were reportedly killed, all claimed by the CIA to be suspected militants.

The attack reportedly targeted a vehicle parked outside the house of a local, Malik Rosan. A madrassa / school adjacent to the house was also damaged. It is unknown how many students were killed.

One confirmed death is of an 8-year-old boy, Noor Syed, who was sleeping in his home when the missile struck.

Further independent fieldwork is necessary to confirm the identities and affiliations of the victims.

Casualties: Masal, Mehboob, Waris, Wasim, Ihsan, Javed, and Tahir.
