What Happened?
06 December 2012: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Mubarak Shahi area of Mirali Tehsil. This attack reportedly began at around 0500 hours. The house belonged to a local man named Shahidullah Dawar.
Media reports alleged the death of a senior Al-Qaeda commander Abu-Zaid al Kuwaiti. Kuwaiti’s wife was among the dead and possibly several of his daughters were left injured. A statement from Al-Qaeda confirmed Kuwaiti’s death. Al-Kuwaiti was thought to be one of the several possible successors to Al-Qaeda’s top leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri.
