What Happened?
27 August 2009: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Taparghai area of Kaniguram. This attack started at around 1600 hours. The house reportedly belonged to a local man Azam Khan Mehsud. Media reports alleged that up to 10 suspected militants were targeted, while up to 9 were injured.
The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan confirmed the death of its leader Tahir Yuldashev occurring around this period, replacing him with Usman Atil. It is possible that Yuldashev was targeted in this attack.
