Hurmaz (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack III – Jul 2011

What Happened?
05 July 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Hurmuz area of Mirali. This attack reportedly occurred at around 2300 hours. The house reportedly belonged to a local man Zahirullah, who owned a local general store. Staying in Zahirullah’s guesthouse (hujra) were Saifullah and his wife, along with their two children.
Saifullah was a white Australian by nationality, and had been living in North Waziristan for several years at that point. It was suspected that Saifullah had connections to militant groups, however this allegation has never been confirmed. His wife and two children were killed along with him. Zahirullah was killed as well.
The Australian government has reportedly never acknowledged Saifullah’s death. No information is present about the six other casualties.
