What Happened?
30 October 2006: Missiles fired from MQ-1 Predator drones struck a madrassa in the Chenagai district of Bajaur Agency (then-Federally administered by Islamabad). The massacre happened in the early hours of the morning, when the school was about to enter session. The missiles collapsed the school structure, leading to mass child casualties.
No official documentation has been collated for this massacre. Reports from local journalists place the death toll at 82, a supermajority of them children as young as 7-year-olds. Western analysts have speculated that the intended targets of this attack were Faqir Muhammad or Ayman Al-Zawahiri, although neither was present at the site.
