What Happened?
05 August 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted a house in the Zangar village of Ladha Tehsil. The attack reportedly began at around 0100 hours. The house reportedly belonged to a local man Haji Ikramuddin, also known locally as Lala Shabi Khel Mehsud.
Media reports indicate that the Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud was mortally injured in this attack, who was reportedly Ikramuddin’s son-in-law. Data collected by FATA records indicate that children were targeted in this attack. It was later learned that this drone attack was personally authorised by President Obama in full knowledge that the attack would also kill civilians.
