What Happened?
14 September 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted a moving car in the Toorikhel area of Khushali in North Waziristan Agency. The CIA alleged that it had targeted Islamic Jihad Union and Al Qaeda commanders, a claim that was corroborated by Pakistani military intelligence.
Both sides also wrongly claimed the killing of Ilyas Kashmiri, an Al Qaeda leader. Kashmiri was also alleged to have been killed six days earlier, in an attack that had killed 3 children and 2 women.
