What Happened?
19 January 2015: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Shahi Khel area of Shawal Tehsil. Media reports quoted Pakistani security officials reporting that foreign ‘suspected militants’ had been killed in this attack, with up to 7 deaths reported.
A later statement released by White House on April 22 acknowledged that U.S. drones had killed 3 American citizens in January 2015. Prior to this statement, it was known that only 2 American citizens had been killed in January – Ahmed Farouq and Warren Weinstein. The newly acknowledged fatality was Adam Gadahn, an Al Qaeda militant originally from California, and later indicted in the United States for treason.
No information is available about the other casualties.
