Naurak (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack IV – Jun 2010

Date: 10/06/2010

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 4 Killed (4 civilians)

What Happened?

10 June 2010: A U.S. drone strike targeted a house in the Naurak area of North Waziristan. The house belonged to a local civilian, Saeed Kamal. This drone attack was brought up by Pakistani civil rights groups to the United Nations Human Rights Council for civilian deaths.

Eyewitness and local testimony presented to the United Nations identified that four civilians were killed in this drone attack. The casualties included the homeowner Saeed Kamal, who was killed along with neighbours Amanullah, Sahib Rehman, and Sakhi Rehman.

This attack was likely one of CIA’s many ‘signature strikes’ where drone attacks were conducted on assumptions and guesswork (e.g., men gathered together were likely to be militants) as opposed to confirmed intelligence.
