What Happened?
07 July 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted the Makin area of South Waziristan Agency. The CIA alleged that it had struck a militant training camp and that all casualties were militants. A local news channel alleged that the attack killed Kifayatullah Anikhel, a Taliban commander related to Baitullah Mehsud.
However, there is no independent confirmation of the casualties and if whether they were civilians or militants, making this an undocumented attack.
This was the fifth drone attack on Makin in the past two years, including a massacre that killed over 60 civilians in a funeral.
