Date: 07/01/2013
Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan
Perpetrators: United States
Victims: 9 Killed, 4 Injured
What Happened?
07 January 2013: A U.S. drone strike targeted a house in the Hassu Khel area of Mirali. This attack reportedly began at around 0030 hours. The house reportedly belonged to a local man Noor Muhammad. Media reports alleged that ‘suspected militants’ were killed.
An investigation by Amnesty International in October 2013 alleged that up to 9 militants were killed in this attack. However, locals reported that they were unable to identify the dead, as their bodies had been too far destroyed. No other information is known about this attack.
It is notable that several missiles fell unexploded on this house, which were taken by militants to an unknown location.
This was the second U.S. attack on Mirali Tehsil on this day, with the first strike happening minutes earlier in the nearby Haider Khel, where a child and mother was killed.
