What Happened?
23 January 2012: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house and car in the Degan area of Datta Khel Tehsil. The attack reportedly occurred at 1015 hours. It was reported that the car was the primary target, and one of the missiles struck a nearby house. Media reports alleged that five people were killed in the four, at least four of whom were linked to Al-Qaeda.
It is not yet known if whether the attack on the house led to any casualties. Data published years later by FATA officials allege that a Pakistani state car was destroyed in this attack, killing 2 ‘non-locals’.
The absence of any independent or credible information about this attack has led this U.S. drone attack to be classified as undocumented.
