What Happened?
06 February 2013: A U.S. drone strike destroyed multiple houses in the Banngdar area of Ghulam Khan Tehsil. Some sources report that this attack may have occurred in the Spinwam Tehsil instead. Some mention the ‘Matal Mountain’ area. Xinhua reported that people living in nearby houses were hit by this strike. This creates a high probability of unreported and undocumented civilian casualties.
Some news reports allege that up to 3 ‘suspected militants’ were killed. However, it is notable that no confirmation was ever received, and the identities of the victims could not be ascertained. Data published years later by FATA officials does not log this U.S. drone strike at all, adding to its undocumented status.
