Azam Warsak (S. Waziristan) Drone Attack IV – Sep 2010

Date: 21/09/2010

Location: Birmal, SWA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 16 Killed

What Happened?

21 September 2010: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Kaza Ponga area of Azam Warsak. The attack reportedly began at around 2100 hours. Media reports are contradicting, with some claiming that the attack targeted either a house, market, or funeral prayer for victims of an earlier strike on the nearby Khand Morsak on this day.

This would not be the first time that U.S. drones targeted a funeral service, as a drone attack on a funeral in 2009 in the nearby Makin created over 200+ casualties. Given the conflicting nature of the reporting, there is a high risk of undocumented civilian deaths.

Data from FATA officials indicates that this was a failed attack and had no casualties at all.
