What Happened?
25 December 2013: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Qutab Khel area of Miranshah Tehsil. This attack reportedly began in the early hours of the morning. Locals reported hearing two loud missile explosions. Media reports indicate that locals began rescue efforts despite hearing the U.S. drones fly overhead, placing them at risk of deliberate double-tap strikes that often killed civilian rescuers.
No other information is available about this drone attack. The victims’ corpses were far too burnt and destroyed for identification. This is one of the least documented U.S. drone attacks in the region, as nothing is known about the victims, including their potential militant or civilian status.
This is the last U.S. drone attack of 2013 in Pakistan.
