Old Colony Serai (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack II – Nov 2011

Date: 15/11/2011

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 7 Killed, 4 Injured

What Happened?

15 November 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Old Colony Serai or Miranshah Bazar. This attack reportedly occurred at around 0330 hours. Media reports alleged that a ‘suspected hideout’ of militants was targeted, and quoted anonymous security officials saying that up to seven militants were killed.

The Chinese news agency could not independently confirm the identities of the victims. Reuters alleged that the victims belonged to the Al-Qaeda, while AP alleged that the victims were from the Pakistani Taliban. Data published years later by FATA officials allege that three locals in a ‘suspected militant hideout’ were killed and injured.

Given the lack of any independent inquiry and contradicting reports, this drone strike is considered undocumented.
