Muhammad Khel (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack X – Mar 2013
Date: 10/03/2010
Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan
Perpetrators: United States
Victims: 3 Killed, 2 Injured
What Happened?
10 March 2013: A U.S. drone strike killed 1 or 2 men on horseback, and possibly destroyed a nearby house, in the Muhammad Khel area of Datta Khel Tehsil. This attack reportedly occurred at around 0845 hours. Several news sources confirm that men on horseback were killed, however another local source The Nation alleges that a house was destroyed and that locals were afraid to start rescue because of the drones loitering in the sky.
Another local agency, The News, redacted its reporting that a house was destroyed, and instead claimed that two men were killed on a motorcycle. It is presently unknown if this is a misreporting from the men killed on horseback. Both Pakistani and Taliban officials were unable to confirm the identities of the victims, leaving this attack completely undocumented, and creating a high risk of unreported civilian casualties.
This is one of the strangest and obscure U.S. drone attacks in the region.
