What Happened?
23 September 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house and car in the Khushali area of Mirali. This attack reportedly occurred at around 2135 hours. The house belonged to a local man Jamal Wazir. A Pakistani security official alleged that the attack had killed 8 ‘suspected militants’ and injured up to 4.
Hours prior to this attack, U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen had accused the Pakistani ISI of sheltering and colluding with the Haqqani Network.
Data published years later by FATA officials alleges that 3 ‘non-locals’ were killed in this attack. The identities and nature of the casualties has never been independently confirmed.
