Date: 11/08/2010

Location: Tiarza, SWA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 25 Killed (4 children), 7 Injured

What Happened?

11 August 2009: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Kaniguram area of Tiarza Tehsil. Alternatively, FATA records indicate that this strike happened in the ‘Sam’ village of Ladha Tehsil. This attack reportedly began at 1100 hours. The house reportedly belonged to a local man Zangi Khan Burki. The nearby home of Arif Zaman, an agency councilor, was also damaged.

Media reports indicate that the house was being used as a militant training facility, including testimony from Noor Behram, a local journalist, reporting that the locals were frustrated with the ‘dangerous’ equipment they found from the rubble. Taliban spokesperson Azam Tariq conversely claimed that the attack had killed 6 women and children.
