What Happened?
11 November 2014: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Dwa Toi area of Datta Khel Tehsil. The house allegedly belonged to an Abdul Khalid (locally known as Dr Sarbuland). Al Qaeda released a statement acknowledging the deaths of Abu Khalid, and Adil Abdul Quddus, who was a former Major in the Pakistan Army.
Media reports also allege that Abu Khalid’s two children, 13-year-old Uzair and 15-year-old Suleman, were killed in this attack. Adil Abdul Quddus was apparently the brother-in-law of Abu Khalid. Quddus was arrested along with his brother, Ahmed, for their associations with the World Trade Centre attack mastermind Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, in March 2003.
