Doag (S. Waziristan) Drone Attack – Mar 2008

Date: 16/03/2008

Location: South Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 20 Killed (4 civilians), 7 Injured

What Happened?

16 March 2008: A U.S. drone strike in the Doag area near Wana in South Waziristan Agency killed at least 20 people. CIA claimed that it had targeted an Al-Qaeda militant camp, whereas a document released by FATA secretariat claimed that 16 of those killed were non-locals while 7 were injured.

Known casualties include Dr Arshad Waheed, a prominent local physician who ran a local health clinic and the homeowner whose house was targeted (likely Noorullah Jan, Ilyas, Jamil or Bakhan).

There is no independent verification of those who were killed, including the possibility of child casualties as the drone strike targeted a home inside a residential area.
