What Happened?

17 October 2010: A U.S. drone missile struck an unknown structure in Dand Patan area of Paktia Province in Afghanistan. The attack is reported to have killed 6 ‘suspected militants’ and plumes of smoke were reported by eyewitnesses from Pakistan’s Kharlachi area.

Local sources report that the commander of the militant group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), Umar Khalid Khorasani aka Abdul Wali, was injured in this attack.

A day earlier, a U.S. drone attack had struck a madrassa in nearby Pakistan’s Kurram Agency.
