Date: 24/10/2009

Location: Bajaur Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 27+ killed

What Happened?

24 October 2009: US drone missiles struck the village of Damodola in the Bajaur Agency (Pakistan’s federally administered tribal areas) for the third time in three years.

Western media reported that all casualties were Taliban or militants. The family members of Muhammad Faqir, a local Taliban leader, were killed.

The casualties have not been independently verified, including for possible civilians and children. The 2006 strike in the same village had killed 18 civilians, including five women and four children.

The second strike on this village happened in 2008.
