Killed By Who? Western Media Hides Israel’s Gaza Genocide, Pt.2

Another morning, another swiping away of news alerts telling me that Israel has killed more children in Gaza. What can the world do except to helplessly watch the likes of Antony Blinken say that ‘accusations’ against Israel are ‘meritless‘. Since this is Part 2, I’ll assume you have read Part 1 already (6 mins read), so let’s get started.

I wrote Part 1 on 6th September, and I started Part 2 on 7th September. Fresher than the bread I’d bought between these two mornings, the Western media yet again hid any wrongdoing of Israel in its reporting.

“Mystery Strikes” and Deaths

NPR reports on an innocent girl killed by IDF.

There’s a perverse insistence in Western news that the deaths of innocent children, women, disabled, and the elderly in Israel’s indiscriminate bombing of Gazan residential areas are casualties of ‘war’. Again and again, they acquit Israel of any wrongdoing by claiming that these killings are due to ‘war’ rather than a genocide, despite UN claims. The civilian death toll in Gaza is higher than any other conflict in the 21st century.

But who cares? We’re only adding a bunch more worthless Arabs to a never-ending list, not like anything was done about the countless millions killed by U.S-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nobody cares of the civilians that U.S. bombed in Pakistan’s tribal regions for a decade. But what if a few Israeli citizens are killed? (Holding myself to the same standard – civilians should never be killed.)

Like Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg-Polin, the families of five other [Israeli] hostages also found out on Sunday that they too had lost their loved ones forever. We grieve for all of them, and we demand justice for all of them.

State Dept. Press Secretary. Matthew Miller on 3rd September, 2024

The U.S. ‘demands’ justice for Israeli citizens, but when called out to demand justice for dead Gazan civilians and children, the U.S. Press Secretary will confidently smirk while dismissing the allegations. ‘I’m not going to comment on that’ and ‘Israel should conduct an investigation.’ Oh, the double standards.

NYT Reports on a blast killing innocents at Gaza hospital
The next day on Oct 18 2023, NYT removes Israel’s name from the headline and blames Palestinians. You got that right, Palestinians are to blame for an Israeli airstrike on their hospital, which is reduced to a ‘blast’ despite killing 500+. Credit: NYT

As I demonstrated with a 1937 newspaper headline in Part 1, the use of pro-Zionist Media to create a pro-Israel narrative is nothing new. Here’s an example from 2018, where BBC changed its headline to make sure that Israel is once again the victim.

BBC changes its headlines to protect Israel from blame in killing innocents.
The initial headline blamed Israel for an airstrike that killed a woman and a child. BBC changed the headline to imply ‘Gaza air strikes’ and paints Israel as a victim. Credit: Al-Bawaba

Let’s get back to the present Israeli genocide now:

NBC reports on killing of an innocent in Gaza by IDF.

Israel's role in illegally destroying places of worship is hidden by Western media.
‘Strikes’ from who? Who’s attacking religious buildings? I sure hope it wasn’t Israel. Credit: NYT & Reuters
NYT hides Israel's role in mass-killings at an aid convoy.
What is this word salad? Hungry Gazans crowd a convoy? Crush of bodies? Israeli “gunshots”? Deadly toll? Would it not have been logical to phrase this as ‘Israeli soldiers open fire on Gazans at an aid convoy’? Credit: NYT
NYT protects Israel's role in enforcing illegal famine in Gaza.
A NYT piece blames Gazans for not displaying orderly queue at an aid convoy. Absolves Israel of creating famine conditions by not mentioning Israel’s role, and how IDF soldiers shot Gazans looking for food. Credit: NYT
Sky News protects Israel by not naming it in mass-killing of 60 Gazans.

Guardian hides the killing of a Palestinian boy by IDF
Let’s conveniently not mention ‘Israeli airstrike’ and also not explain why a ‘food aid drop’ was necessary. Could it be that Israel is enforcing famine in the Gaza Strip? Credit: The Guardian
CNN reporting on Gaza slaying, the role of IDF is hidden by Western media.
The cost of being a 13-year-old boy in Palestine. The West won’t mention that Israel killed you, but the East will. Two cases, close to 13 years apart.

Takeaway

Headlines are viewed in a vacuum. They have the responsibility to convey the entire story. With the rise of pay-walls and subscriptions, most readers aren’t allowed to look at anything except the headlines, especially in Western news websites. These headlines thus serve to reinforce a view that Israel is fighting a ‘defensive’ war in Gaza, and not all ‘strikes’ are committed by Israel.

We explored 11 Western headlines in this report, but only 2 contained ‘Israel’ and only in a defensive phrasing. Let’s get prepped for Part 3 of this report, shall we?
