What Happened?
16 May 2015: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the Wara Mandi area of Shawal Tehsil. Media reports alleged that the casualties belonged to the TTP, however this has never been independently verified.
Pakistani security officials reportedly intercepted the radio communication of militants after this attack, alleging that three Uzbek and two Pakistani fighters had been killed. This U.S. drone attack coincided with the launch of Pakistan Army’s ground assault in Shawal Tehsil, the last uncontrolled territory within North Waziristan Agency.
