New Adda (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack II – Jul 2011
Date: 12/07/2011
Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan
Perpetrators: United States
Victims: 9 Killed
What Happened?
12 July 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a car in the New Adda area of Datta Khel Tehsil. This attack reportedly occurred at around 1925 hours. Media reports on this strike are scarce and limited. One local agency, The News, reported that a local villager driving his personal car was targeted.
An investigation by the TBIJ showed that eight or nine ‘suspected militants’ were killed in this attack, alongside a civilian identified as Abdul Jalil, from the Khaddar Khel tribe, a migrant worker who normally worked in Dubai.
Data published years later by the FATA Secretariat Peshawar contradicts the TBIJ investigation, instead alleging that one local was killed in a ‘state’ car. This raises a concern that Pakistan government assets were targeted by the United States.
