Date: 19/08/2012

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 7 Killed, 3 Injured

What Happened?

19 August 2012: A U.S. drone strike targeted two cars in the Mana Gurbaz area of Shawal Tehsil. This attack reportedly occurred at around 0200 hours. A report from The Express Tribune indicated that the cars had been en route from Miranshah.

A double-tap drone strike occurred some hours later, when rescuers arrived to check for survivors and recover the dead. It is unknown if whether the rescuers were civilians or militants. This double-tap is disputed by AP and The News, who allege that this strike happened on a house instead.

AFP quoted a security official reporting that militants had been killed in this attack. However, other security officials indicate that the targets were unknown. Data published years later by FATA officials allege that the cars had been loaded with munitions.
