Khaisori Sandasa (N. Waziristan) Drone Attack – May 2011

What Happened?

16 May 2011: A U.S. drone strike targeted a vehicle nearby the Sandasa village on the Khairsori – Mirali road. This attack reportedly occurred at 2045 hours. The News reported:

“According to the villagers, most of the bodies were mutilated beyond recognition. “Besides the six bodies, the villagers also collected some body parts. It shows that more than six people were travelling in the pickup truck,” said a tribesman in Khaiusar village.”

A Pakistani security official reported that they were not aware of the civilian or militant status of the victims. Another U.S. drone strike destroyed a house in the nearby Umarkai village, which was reported as an Al Qaeda training camp, but this claim was refused by the group.

No independent study has ever been performed to confirm the identities of these victims, leaving this attack undocumented.
