What Happened?
08 July 2009: Multiple U.S. drone missiles struck at least six vehicles near Karwan Manza in Ladha Tehsil of South Waziristan. The CIA alleged that it had targeted a militant convoy.
A Pakistani military official is reported to have claimed that 90% of the targeted militants were killed in this attack.
However, there is no independent confirmation of the casualties besides the official statements. This is a very high casualty event, which raises the possibility of civilian deaths.
This is the second attack that happened on this day in this area, the first attack had targeted an alleged funeral, resulting in nearly two dozen casualties.
