Dwa Toi (N. Waziristan) Massacre – May 2011

Date: 06/05/2011

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 18 Killed, 4 Injured

What Happened?

06 May 2011: A U.S. drone strike destroyed a house, car, and a nearby eatery on the Sheen Road of Dwa Toi area in Datta Khel Tehsil. The attack reportedly occurred at around 1245 hours. The CIA claims that it targeted a car filled with militants and explosives.

The attack also destroyed or damaged a nearby house and eatery. Initial media reports alleged that either a religious school, or a ‘suspected militant’ compound was destroyed. 18 people were reported killed.

Western investigations into this massacre found at least 6 civilian and 10 militant deaths. However, a document published by FATA Secretariat in Peshawar alleges that 7 Punjabi militants were killed. This casts doubt on if whether civilian deaths have gone undocumented.

Possible Casualties (TBIJ): Samad, Jamshed, Dawaz, Iqbal, Noor Nawaz, Yousaf
