What Happened?

08 September 2008: A U.S. drone attack targeted a school owned by Jalaludin Haqqani in the Danda Darpakhel area of North Waziristan Agency. The attack incurred a large number of civilian and child casualties, most of whom belonged to Jalaludin Haqqani’s family.

It is alleged that at least 12+ children were killed, along with 8+ women. An Al-Jazeera report states that most wounded were women and children, who were taken to Miranshah’s main hospital.

CIA alleged that the attack killed a large number of Al Qaeda and Haqqani Network operatives, however no independent verification is available for this claim. A secret FATA Secretariat document notes that all dead were civilians.
