Saidgi (N. Waziristan) Massacre – Dec 2009

Date: 26/12/2009

Location: North Waziristan Agency, FATA, Pakistan

Perpetrators: United States

Victims: 20 Killed, 12 Injured

What Happened?

26 December 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted a family home where a feast was taking place in the Saidgi area of Datta Khel Tehsil in North Waziristan Agency. A local photo journalist, Noor Behram, found that the dead included six people of a single family.

Both Taliban and Pakistan’s military intelligence claimed that the casualties were exclusively civilians and locals. No follow-up inquiry was made to preserve the identities of the victims, leaving this massacre undocumented.

There is a very high likelihood that children were killed in this drone attack.
