What Happened?
24 September 2009: A U.S. drone strike targeted a house and nearby area in the Danda Darpa Khel area of North Waziristan Agency. The house belonged to a local named Ahmed Afghani, who the CIA alleged was part of the Haqqani Network.
Some 10 – 12 people were killed in this attack, who the CIA alleged to be Haqqani militants resting in the ‘compound’ from bouts of fighting American troops across the border in Afghanistan.
Residents of the area, who had insofar been targeted in at least 3 U.S. drone-led mass-casualty massacres of local children, reported that all those killed in this attack were civilians and were not linked to any militant network.
