What Happened?
01 April 2009: The first-ever U.S. drone attack in Orakzai Agency targeted a house in the Khadizai area. The CIA alleged that the attack had targeted Al Qaeda militants. The house reportedly belonged to Moulvi Gul Nazeer, a prominent Taliban commander.
The Taliban commander Hakimullah Mehsud reported that six Taliban fighters were killed in this attack. There are concerns that Gul Nazeer’s wife and children were also killed in this attack.
